Philip "Phil" Leonetti is a former mobster and underboss of the Philadelphia crime family. He is known for his involvement in organized crime activities in the 1980s, particularly during the reign of his uncle, Nicodemo "Little Nicky" Scarfo, who was the boss of the Philadelphia crime family at the time.
Leonetti rose through the ranks of the crime family and eventually became Scarfo's underboss. However, in 1989, he turned informant and began cooperating with the authorities, providing valuable information that led to numerous arrests and convictions of organized crime figures.
After cooperating with the government, Leonetti entered the Witness Protection Program and began a new life with a new identity. He later wrote a book, "Mafia Prince: Inside America's Most Violent Crime Family and the Bloody Fall of La Cosa Nostra," detailing his life in the mob and his decision to become an informant.
Leonetti's testimony and cooperation were instrumental in dismantling the Philadelphia crime family and weakening organized crime in the area. He remains a controversial figure in the world of organized crime, with some praising him for his cooperation with law enforcement and others criticizing him for breaking the code of silence within the Mafia.
